Pics of dark green trucks....
I am getting ready to lay some color on the 71 and was thinking about painting it a shade of dark green. I seen a 72 that was a dark green with a little metallic in it and he said it was the original color?? Also, I have a 71 cab that I bought a few years back thats been stored, I drug it out to use on this project and its got a very similar shade of green on it, it has been re-painted once so I am not sure if this was an original color.
You guys have any thoughts you could share? Jason Last edited by Number98; 02-20-2008 at 09:05 PM. |

Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
I don't know much about the stock colors, but I've seen a few dark green trucks on here and I think they're gorgeous. I've considered changing mine from the lighter to the darker green. Good luck!

Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
Here's mine it's a metallic green put out by Ford called, "Forest green Metallic". I need to get the engine back in and get the hood back on so I can start crusing. A wash and wax won't hurt either.

yup! dark olive mettalic! think it was a 70 or 71 color.. im no where near home or i could give you the paint code.. you can go to orielys they have the paint code, or if you go over to Whites paint supply on bankhead in austell, he has paint chips all the way back to the early 60's thats how i found mine. I LOVE IT!

Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
Sweet, thanks for the info Premium72!
I am thinking a bit darker than yours though, which the color on the cab I have was a shade or two darker as well. I just want to be a little different, originally I wanted to paint the truck black and use a red interior but I see alot of black and red out there...... thinking the original green would give it a touch of character and nostalgia... Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
I like that dark olive metallic. Mine was originally med olive but I like the darker color. Not sure what color I am going to paint it when the time comes.
When you do get home is that paint code 2207 or 2206?

Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
Here's one of my favorite dark green ones on the board. It almost looks black. This truck belongs to BCanini (I think that's his username) I know his name is Brian!

Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
Here's a pic of the factory olive that's underneath the blue someone obviously laid on with a brush (they painted over everything except inside the hood and the cab). I'm actually considering going back with the olive or dark olive myself. Initially I was all about going with medium blue, but there seem to be quite a few people out there already with the same idea
Sorry, not the best pic, but this was handy: Here's a link with the original paint samples, choose chevrolet truck and then your model year: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorli...arch/search.pl |

Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
here is my 71 Super it is a little darker than the factory dark olive. I had this truck painted 14 years ago, so I'm not sure what the paint code is but talk to a good paint suppler and they can hook you up.

Re: Pics of dark green trucks....
Thanks guys.... there are some sweet looking trucks in this group!
I have to admit that the green and white combo looks pretty good too. I had originally planned to shave all the moldings but then I was thinking about just using the lower moldings with the black inlay... Thanks again! Jason |
