Mallory distributor

Hi:
I bought a brand new mallory distributor while back to replace my old point type dizzy. I read the threads about installing HEI but the question I have is about a brown wire. The new Mallory has three wires: Red, Brown, Black. Red is constant 12 V, Black is ground I assume, what is the brown one for? is it for Tach?
Thanks

Re: Mallory distributor

are you sure red is 12v constant, not switched?
is there any other prong, connector, or plugs on the dizzy?
if not i would also guess that the brown would have to be a tach output.
i will call my buddy at the speed shop tomorrow and find out for sure!

Re: Mallory distributor

Thanks Man. Yes, the coil sits the cap. I'll try to take a picture of it after work today.
