speedometer reading

forgive my ignorance but sitting here at work (not in front of my dash cluster) i started wondering because I have not seen my gauge cluster for a long time what does the speedometer go up to on the 72 trucks?. and if I recall it was like 80 mph is this right?. and is there anyone out there that has a speedometer that goes higher with the MPH

Re: speedometer reading

all 67 - 72 speedos read to 100, and the needle will go back to zero before it 'pegs' and won't go any firther, which is right at 130 MPH.

Re: speedometer reading

on a 10, 20, or 30 series, the blank hole was blank on every single truck that came down the assembly line.
On 40 series and up, it could be blank, could have a vac guage, or, if it had air brakes, an air guage.
wrench bender, I've had one of my trucks up to the M on MPH at the bottom of the guage... 115 - 118 MPH or so. However, if you ever have one apart, and push the needle with your finger, you'l see it stops at zero.
