Do I need to put sound deadner in b4 polyvinyle?

I just ordered the 1/8" thick polyvinyle to replace my carpet.

Do you guys think i will also need to add more sound deadner or should it be ok to install by itself?

also has anyone else tried the polyvinyle? if so how do you like it?

If you think you'll want sound deadener eventually, then do it now.

Normal carpet padding or "juke padding" is a good sound deadener.

I have heard that any bit of sound deadner in our trucks makes a big difference, dynamat, fatmat whatever... also do a piece inside the doors, makes is less "soda can" sounding.

Some is good, more is better. Adding sound deadner to my doors made a HUGE difference. Adding it to the floor will be very worth while.

do you have pics?where did you put it inside the door? i was going to do this mod myself but thought it may cause water to congregate in the door either in the sound deadener or if it comes loose to block the weep holes in the bottom of the door

you don't have to cover the entire inside... a nice size piece (8"x12"or larger) sticking to the inside of the outer skin will help. and if you could get some on the inside of the lower inner skin too...

check out the "low buck" build thread, I think he used some in his cab...

I wish I had a pic of my doors after they were covered with Dynamat. Here's a pic of my interior though, just before the last of the sound deadener was installed.

Unfortunately I don't have any pics. The guys at Stoked Out did it for me when they installed the power window kit.

We used Brown Bread, which is like Fat Mat, DynaMat, etc. They cut pieces as large as possible and covered as much of the exterior skin as possible. They also skinned the inside of the door panel.

It's hard to imagine the difference it makes just doing the doors, but it's truly impressive. If you tap on the fender near the door, then tap on the door the sound is clearly different. The fender makes a hollow tin can sound with plenty of reverberation, and the door is a quiet thud.
