Help... Late for Work- truck won't turn over...

Hey guys. My truck won't do anything to turn over. The lights and everything like that works just fine, but the engine won't even try to turn over. I'm thinking it's either a bad ignition switch, or a loose or broken wire down at the solenoid. There's a rat's nest under the dash and under the hood.

Does anyone know which wires I can jump at the ignition switch to see if that will kick it over? And if that doesn't do it, which wires do I jump down at the Solenoid? Is it the outer wire to the block, or the one nearest the block?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you can just put a screwdriver between the 2 posts on the solenoid. Make sure it's in neutral ;-)

Did you get it? Its the one on the starter that has the big postive cable coming from your batter and the little wires coming from your ignition, it will have a little 5/16 nut and should be right behind that postive cable on your starter. If you got it let us know what it was.

A pics worth a thousand words....LOL. Hope this helps.
Also if its an automatic check the safety switch on the column its where the purple wire from the starter comes from.

Re: Help... Late for Work- truck won't turn over...

Hey guys,
I'm back from work now and can give an update. It was the neutral safety switch. I didn't figure it out until I got back after jumping the solenoid the first time, and then after driving it around a bit it started right up, but then wouldn't start again after parking. But then after pulling hard on the shifter, it would start again.

Thanks again for all your help, it really did save me from trouble at work!
