i want to go WIDE!!!
ok guys, i need to know what the absolute widest and tallest wheel and tire combo i can go with on a stock height 83 C10
Im getting really big into racing with it and would like some impressive sized meats on the rear so i can get good launches. so if anyone knows, id like the widest wheel i can fit in the back end and maybe the widest tire as well. Im looking at the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials right now for it with Weld acing wheels.

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
You'll need more than wide tires to get good launches.
I'd start with some sort of traction device...like Cal-tracs. Then I would start worrying about tire size. No need to run ultra wide tires and be noticed when you can run slightly wider tires with a traction device and surprise people. And no offense, your 1/4 mile time in your sig should not warrant serious meats..unless you start building your engine/truck up....or you were spinning your wheels all the way down the track. I used to run 14.6 @ 92 with a fairly mild 350, 12 bolt 4.10 posi, and Hoosier quick times on 15x8 wheels. It launched great and would only spin em if I held the RPM's too high before the light.

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
well i spin em through first and into 2nd
plus i have a guy im probably going to be buying a built 468 from that has a top end built for blower and bottom end built for N2O this video was off idle trying to not spin em so bad from launching at higher RPM, the few times ive actually went through the water box and launched at higer RPM i almost put the SOB in the wall and HAD to get out of it from uncontrollable spinning

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
15 x 10" and N-50 type tires (i think they are 325-50) or a 29 x 12.5 Mickey are about the widest unless you want to go all the way with your rear suspension

http://www.jegs.com/i/Mickey+Thompson/672/3757R/10002/-1/753925|36694 ok yeah, i guess weld racing no longer has a 5x5 bolt pattern in their racing wheels anymore.....

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
Cal trac bars, or some form of traction device are essential.

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
you should tub it with a narrowed 9in, maybe a 4 link coil over setup with some 16in wide slicks. you should hook up then

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
Guys are running 8's on 10" tires....so a big, pro-street type tire is not needed to go fast...
If your serious about racing, go with slicks or a bias 'cheater'...not radials....unless you do alot of street driving as well.... Also, a four link and fuel cell at the back of the bed will help it hook.

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
what tire pressure you running?
the 02 in my sig is with 315/75r16 (35x1250) in 2wd and i have cut a 2.00 60' there are several ways to combat this... cal tracs, spring clamps, traction bars, lower tire pressure.. add weight but not just anywere. talkin 100-150 pound over the rear axle.... believe me it makes a diff it does on my truck how do you stage and launch? do you have a posi/limited slip etc in the dif? 295 will fit as well...

Re: i want to go WIDE!!!
Here is a link to summit. There are a bunch of 5x5 lug weld wheels. Could`nt find any 15x8`s but I didn`t spend too much time looking.
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294793325 Also, try leaving the tail gate down when you run. It will move some weight further back over the wheels and might help you. Cal tracs and drag race shocks will help as well. I didn`t see the specs of your truck or engine so I don`t know if tire size is going to help you. Remember, if you go with a taller tire, you`ll need to go with deeper gears.
