Hello,

Been checking out the forum and decided to post.

I picked up a 79 K10 Scottsdale back in Sep 07.

I've only seen it once while home on R&R as I bought it off E-Bay

It had under 37000 miles when I bought it.

After I make it home for good I will be asking a lot of questions from what I see are very knowledgable people here.

Welcome from Texas ! That truck is Nice .
That truck brings back the memories . My 77 I drove in High School was that trucks twin except mine was a 77 and a two wheel drive . Same exterior , trim level , red interior , etc . The 77 color was a shade darker but everything about your truck looks like mine . Now if you only had white spoke wheels , chrome side window visors , and some horribly faded purple looking window tint , it would be a dead ringer for mine . Frank

Thanks,

I'm not really sure what is added. I know the rear bumper was added. Did not realize the moldings were after-market.

Welcome to the board!. You have a very nice ride but I hope you didn't pay extra for the 'low mileage' cause that speedo isn't original. . .

Wow. Really nice truck and gotta love the SWB with 4 wheel drive. Welcome to the board and thanks so much for your service to this great country. Take care over there and keep us posted!
On the comment about the speedometer not being original, I think he's referring to the MPH max. A 79 should have a 0-100 instead of 0-85. The 0-85 came with later years, 81 up I think, but someone can correct that if need be.

The side molding is original or at least the original configuration . My 77 Scottsdale was the exact same truck , with the same molding . They just arent seen too often with the original trim in place . I have seen several over the years . Frank

To the best of my knowledge that's an 81 & up speedo. The side molding is indeed original.

Welcome from NM! Very nice, clean truck you have! The original speedo should have the same style lettering and such as the other gauges...Smaller numbers and a blue stripe like the gas gauge. Anyhow, that's still and awesome ride!!

The speedo should be similar to this one...found this pic on-line...

Re: New Member

The 85 mph speedometer shown was introduced in the 1980 pickups. The 1979 speedo topped out at 100 mph and did not have orange klm's, they were blue.

Re: New Member

Anyone here point me in a direction to try and see if maybe there is a paper trail on the mileage. Carfax starts at 1980. Does the state keep records of odometer readings when checked at time of inspection? Was previously titled in Pa. The truck had a frame around the plate from a dealer in the area where purchased. I shot them an email, but I doubt they respond.

Re: New Member

I would imagine finding out the millage is going to be difficult. The speedo could have been changed by the dealer but I doubt they would use a newer one unless that was the only one available.

At any rate thanks for your service and that is one Clean truck you got there

Whatever the story behind this truck, it sure looks sweet! Pennsylvania has mandatory motor vehicle inspections. If the truck spent considerable time there, I think you might have a good chance of tracking down some information. take care and keep low.

I'm back from Iraq now. Did a total of six years over there. Good to be home..lol I did some checking about my speedometer and found that the 100 mph was up to early 79 and they switched to the 85 mph late 79.
