Question Anniversary Gift Help

Hey Guys,

My 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up shortly and I told her I wanted something for the truck. Problem is I can't decide. What do ya'll think?

1. 2/4 drop kit
2. New cluster w/Tac
3. New lenses all the way around
4. New Wiring harness
5. None of the above/Other ideas

Numbers 1 and 2 seem like the most fun, but #4 is probably most necessary.

Any ideas?

annv for the truck, or the wife?
If it's the latter, I hope the former has enough room to sleep in for you.

Re: Anniversary Gift Help

actually looking at the options given, i say go for the drop.
The harness probably isn't as bad as you think... pick up a book, learn the ins and outs of basic DC systems, and go repair the few spots that need attention. Copper lasts forever, and the plastic covering it shouldn't bee too bad.
*note*
your harness may well be fubar'd... I just see too many ppl spend too much money on wires becouse they don't understand how to repair and they are scared. It's quite simple in reality, and 1/2 the electrical questions posted on here start off with "I just rewired my truck front to back with xxxx brand harness.... "

How about "all of the above?"
Can't hurt to try, can it?

Re: Anniversary Gift Help

Have your wife contact mine. For my 25th, my wife bought me a 70 454 El Camino and a 69 396 C-10.

(on the down side, maybe you shouldn't. She used my credit card and her new-found Ebay skills to buy them sight unseen)

Re: Anniversary Gift Help

Well, I guess I was a little confusing. The anniversary is actually mine and my wife's. I've taken very good care of her for this occasion, which is probably why I'm only getting either/or.

Anyway, looks like the drop is winning, so far. Can't say I'm disappointed, but those new clusters are nice too. I guess if I would not be so lazy, I could just buy the tach conversion and refurbish mine since it isn't so bad.

Keep those ideas coming!

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I'll keep that longhorn gift in mind too.

Re: Anniversary Gift Help

We always do anniversary, brithdays and x-mas the same way, one large purchase that you couldn't normally go to the store and drop the $50 or so bucks on. I say go for the drop kit, then later you can rebuild your cluster.

Go for the drop kit. Get the full kit that comes with sway bars front and back.

Re: Anniversary Gift Help

Well, here's a new wrinkle. Wife asked how much it would cost to have the old grey ghost painted. I got a quote from Maaco for ~$700.00 for their high-end single stage.

Keep in mind I'm not looking for a show truck, just something I can be proud to have in the driveway and not turn into a bucket of rust.

So, does a paint job trump a drop kit?
