69 GMC side mount spare pics.

Just thought a few of you side mount folks would be interested. I also need some opinions on my wheels. I have the hubcaps on front and the center caps on rear. Which looks better?

I would have to see both sets front and back to choose. You could just switch every six months!!!!!!!
Great looking stepside.

I like the hub cap idea, you don't see that very often. Nice looking truck. Glad you kept the side mount spare. If mine would have stayed a step, mine would be there too.

I just sold a truck that had those GMC hubcaps, they look nice on your truck. Different then Rallies,
I prefer the Ralleys though

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

The taillights are from a 70-73 Camaro. I cut each light in half, then took the half of the light without the reverse light and turned it on its side. The angle of the light matches the angle of the fender perfectly. I welded studs on the inside of the fender before I had it painted.

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

One of the VERY VERY FEW stepside inset taillights I've seen that I not only like, but love Great job!

As far as the wheels... hub caps (your truck just doesn't look "stock enough" for them.)

Center caps....

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

The taillights look very nice. Tell us more about the hubcap and wheel combo pon the front. What year are the caps from, they don't look original? How wide are the wheels?

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

The fronts are 80's and 90' Safari van hubcaps. $35 new on Ebay. I will post a pic of them with the trim ring around them also but I don't really like that look. Too much chrome and no wheel to see. The rears are late model center caps that have the plastic screw on fake nuts. I had to find those special dual thread lug nuts for it to work(Ebay again) The wheels are just steel 15x8's. Tires are 275/60's

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

As far as the taillights I wish I could have gotten them closer to the side of the truck but the fender started to curve around the side and that was as far as I could go. From the back the stake pockets block a very tiny bit of them.

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

Let me know your opinion of the rear bumper I will get a pic of the back. I wanted a bumper that was as skinny as I could get it so it didn.t go way past the side of the bed. Its a Hercules bumper for a small truck.

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

Quick question... is your truck "raised" at all?

Maybe it's the picture angle? but your truck appears to sit an inch or two higher than mine and your wheels/tires look to be the same/similar size as mine. Just curious

I think I see a leaf rear, is the front leaf too? Maybe that's it?

Also like to add that color is killer!

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

The truck isn't raised just stripped. No tailgate, glass, inner fenders, seat, dash, grille etc. Also its a leaf spring rear so it may be a little higher to begin with.

Re: 69 GMC side mount spare pics.

Here's a pic of the taillight and bumper. I' not real thrilled the edge of the light is cut off from the stake pocket but if you move to the side a bit it looks fine.
