Smile Unbelievable Day

Ya'll may think I am a little crazy but thats ok, I am. I went to the local Pick & Pull today for the first time in about 8 years. Being out in the yard with hundreds of Chevy cars and trucks all at once make me feel like a little boy again, (I am 50 now). I brought a small tool box with a can of liquid wrench, put it in a wheel barrel and off I went, up and down, row after row; I tell you my head is still spinning. There was one 67, two 68s, two 69s, and I don't know how many others. I scored a jack handle retaining spring, an original 67washer bottle and bracket, two of those little plugs for the holes when you don't have shoulder belts, a set of retractable belts for along side the seat, all the sunvisor brackets I needed, and best of all while I was looking under the seat of the 67 I found an original GM radio. I pulled it out and blew the dust off of it. Then I sprayed a little liquid wrench on the face and found the chrome was beautiful, I mean just like new. All I can say is, I cannot wait to go back. And I hope some of you guys had hafe as good a day as I did.

Re: Unbelievable Day

I love junk yards, theres no old chevys like mine in the yards around here though, or none that I've found but I still have a couple more to hit up. I like how you found the original radio in the 67, hey, if you find another send it my way because the new oem looking ones are like $300 bucks and I hate to ask what you gave for the real oem one, it will make me sick wishing I can find one...lol. Good luck on your next trip.

Re: Unbelievable Day

There's nothing like hunting down those hard to find parts in a junkyard. It sounds like you had a great day!

I did the same thing today. I like going to the local salvage yard and just look around. It relaxes me.

Re: Unbelievable Day

We have several salvage yards within 10 minutes of where I work. There's nothing like taking my lunch break (1 hr.) and browsing through a salvage yard on a nice Spring day, it sure relieves the stress from the office!

Re: Unbelievable Day

Well its 8am here and its like 35 outside but if it warms up like its suppose to today I'm heading out to some salvage yards. Arkansas weather, it was 60 saturday and partly cloudy, 70 sunday and sunny, and 35 yesterday...lol. I don't think it will hit 45 today. I think for $15 I'll walk around for a while and look at some old trucks, maybe not a radio, but hopefully I can find some cool parts.

Re: Unbelievable Day

Guy, care to give any details? I go to Alb once in a while! I guess since it is at home I can tell you I scored my 72 2wd Blazer out of a yard in Alb, NM!! It cost a little more than $15, but not too much more!
