Rear Tow Hooks F/S-Ks

These tow hooks are, I believe, to be correct for original rear tow hooks. Have had one set in the past I sold that Rod, Jerry Moss and several others concured as original rear hooks but I make no guarantees. Again, you be the judge. Bead blasted, primed and painted semi-gloss black. Some light pitting on the metal and around the bolt holes appears to be some "light" torch marks. Does not interfer with the hole mountings at all. Bolt holes are good. $75.00 plus $10.00 ship USPS Priority Flat Rate. Please reply in thread.

Dumb question, but do you have any pictures of where they bolt to?

Re: Rear Tow Hooks F/S-Ks

Those are diffenently IH Scout, there shoud be a part number and the I inside th H symbol that they used back then. I've had several sets and sometimes the part numbers are worn beyond recognition.
Ive seen them go for as much as 150.00 on Ebay when advertised as Scout hooks.

Re: Rear Tow Hooks F/S-Ks

Hart Rod, Sorry but do not have any pictures to show mounting of these hooks. Again, from an earlier thread concerning these hooks it is my understanding that both GM and IH used these hooks as sourced from an outside vendor. Not wanting to mis-lead or "snow" anyone, I can not verify this one way or the other.

Re: Rear Tow Hooks F/S-Ks

I went out and looked at "GQ" and could not find any 3 hole mounting places
on the rear frame horns. All I found were 2 unused holes. Not saying they are
or are not for our models, jsut wondering if they drilled a 3rd hole to install?

Re: Rear Tow Hooks F/S-Ks

Honestly can't say concerning the mountings. Personally I have not seen rear hooks but am going off past threads and several other board members who agreed that these are rear tow hooks. ??? Again, do not want to mis-lead anyone, only going from information pulled from the board.

Here is a shot of the original rear hooks, Looks a little different to me but it could just be the way they are setting.

Re: Rear Tow Hooks F/S-Ks

I would buy these for the price. Not concerned about being original. If they were,I`d say they`d be alot more than what you`re asking. They`d be rarer than front extreme bends.
But...I`d like to see you get top dollar off of a Scout guy.Did you check for IH logo? The factory ones are more oblong at the base.
I can`t afford a pot to...well you know,right about now.

Cool ad! I've got one of those push guards on a 72 GMC 1 Ton. Dealer's receipt was in the glove box.

I'd like to see those pics when you can get them. I've been reading these threads about the "mysterious" factory rear tow hooks for years and have never seen any pics of factory mounted hooks, just the adds like the one above. Sorry for the thread jack Ironhorse.

Re: Rear Tow Hooks F/S-Ks

Hugger, no problem on the thread jack, I'd like to see a pic of documented rear tow hooks myself.

gn4u2c2, Are the rear hooks called out on the glove box sheet, what option code? Can you post up a pic of the gove box option sheet also? Would really give some great documentation for rear hooks. Will be anxiously waiting for pics on this.

Still interested in the rear tow hooks pics myself. Any chance you can post them for all to see? All I have ever seen is the archival pic from the dealer ad.

Here is a couple of pics of the rear hooks on my 67. Haven't looked for numbers on them but they have been on there a long long time. They also have been used a few times as you can see bends in the lower frame rails
