disk brake question

I have read the threads on disk brake conversions, but does anyone know if a 89 suburban disk brake will work? It seams to be the same frame as the 87 trucks. I can get a sub frame pretty cheap but do not want it if the bake set up will not work on my '65 1ton. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

73-87 is the model yrs. I think the main part is will the control arms mount up if so then the rest of it should not be a problem. I used an 87 sub and bolted right up. Going to be hard but measure the width of the lower and upper control arms and check were they bolt to frame and make sure the aligment is the same for the holes, if it is then your probably good. I went out and checked mine center to center on my upper arm bolts and it looks like it is 5" exact.

bariand, Thanks for the info. I don't think they changed the frames on the subs until '91. but I wanted to know for sure.

David, I have read this thread several times, and it does state that the 88-91 sub and crew cab frames are supposed to be the same, but I wanted to see if anyone knew for sure if they would work.

I will check the 5" dim. with these. I can buy the front end of this sub frame for 100. including brakes calipers and all. All were in a driving truck three days ago. This sub was transfered to a 4x4 frame.

Yes, blazers, suburbans, and crew cabs had the same frame up till '91, '92 changed to the newer body style like the trucks, guess it took them a few years to complete the tooling changes. Joe`

suburbans and 1 tons are the same as 73-87 clear till 91, then the body style from 88 toke over the burbs and 1 tons.
