Instrument Cluster question...

Where does the black wire coming from the light on the far right go to?? It broke when we pulled the gauges out, but in that black cavernous dash, I can't tell where it goes too....

I think that is the fiber optic wire that goes to the ash tray?

on which end? Cluster end or the ash tray end?
If you take it out it doesn't matter, you just won't have any light in the ash tray, or you will have light where ever it is pointing to.

I find it interesting that GM thought up a little fiber optic dealio for the ash tray in the 70's but we are still stuck with the tin foil between layers of plastic on the back of the cluster.
