Lookin' @ an 06 - Input Please
Looking for some input, good-bad or indifferent.
I'm trading in my 01 Duramax for another Duramax. The 01 is an ext cab and the 06 is a 4-door crew cab w/plow. The 01 has 150K on it and just had the injectors fail and get replaced. (barely under warranty too) whew... The 06 has 60K on it. (yeah I know, High) The 01 is an LS model and the 06 is an LT w/cloth and the Bose system. My understanding is this year Duramax has the highest HP/Torque numbers and was the first year of the 6 speed Alison. Whatcha got to say? |

I'll tell you what I know. In '06 they started the high output LBZ duramax and6 speed trans. The simplest way to verify which series you have is the VIN# of the truck. The 8th digit is the engine ID and it will either be a 1, 2, D, or 6. 06-07 LBZ is a D. My brother owns a 06 LBZ and I own a 07. They are very strong/fast engines. This is my first diesel truck and I am really enjoying it. I have 24000 miles on it now and my fuel mileage seems to be getting a little better every month. I get about 21 mpg.

Re: Lookin' @ an 06 - Input Please
Turned out the deal on the 06 fell through and I ended up getting an 05 crew instead from a different dealer.
I was a little bummed about loosing the LBZ and the 6spd though. Like this one alot more than the 01, quieter, rides better and has more power, so all's good. |

I'm envious... aside from the fuel prices.

keep an eye on that '05. if you do any towing make sure you watch your temps like a HAWK. LLY's are known for overheating.
are you on dieselplace.com? |
