Widest wheel width on 71 fleetside

I am looking for information from others on the widest wheel you have installed on the rear. My measurements indicate I should be able to mount a 12 inch wide rim with 7 1/2 inch backspacing with 15 in wide tires but I am looking for advice before committing. Thank you

Is it gonna be lowered? Airbags or coil?
(Airbags tend to give side to side play)

I know 10" is no problem at all, for 12"
you may need to widen the rear tubs.

That's an important question, yes I am bagging it. I already have the tubs and have cut the bed for maximum fit.

I was planning nearly the exact same setup. You should have room to spare if you widen the tubs to the framerails...

Re: Widest wheel width on 71 fleetside

At one time, I had 15x14" custom back-spaced steelies w/a stock length 67/8 12-bolt truck rear (coil suspension). The bumpstop on the outside of the framerail had to go & obviously the tubs were stretched, but it required no frame modifications.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
