Out with the old and in with the ...........
The day I have been waiting for. It is just beautiful outside. 59 degrees and black shirt makes it feel like 79. I have really been feeling stuck indoors lately so I decided to just go do it.
I wasn't happy about my ride since I have brought it home. Imagine, No, look at this mess. I hate clutter so it had to go. Not to mention it was an ill running 2 barrel carb. EGR. My 67 doesn't need one of those. Corvette block? I checked the numbers and it is. Still need to pull valve covers to check if heads are as different as the rest of the beast. Ok, back today. I got this together and with the warm sun on my back. Not pretty but is working better already. Free carb, rebuilt by yours truly, Junk yard intake. Plain Jane, just like I like my intakes. The PO or someone before him has put chains around the frame and bolted to heads. Is this a Redneck cure for bad motor mounts? Took the boy to the local general store over the bridge and am really liking the new combination.

Re: Out with the old and in with the ...........
Actaually the drivers side is the side that raises with engine torque sitting still as I know from a wide open experience in my last 68. Solid throttle linkage + broken driver side motor mount = Wide open throttle when not desired. I guess both sides in chains gives one piece of mind. Maybe I will exchange them for the chrome BLING chains just for fun. I am just playing with my low budget funds and with what I have to work with. It's getting very driveable but does not meet my hotrod needs quite yet. Just another smal (block) step. David

Yeah, that should have been not. It's the lifting of the driver's side that causes clutch linkage problems.

there was a recall where the dealer would install cable type straps fromt eh frame rail then looked around the dvr manifold and back to the frame. Some dealers were swamped with this recall and started installing what ever they could use.

The recall on my truck was voided years ago. It is an old Iowa truck. Glove box matches title and tag in door jamb but I think the vette block was added later. I can't find the "chains" option on the glove box.

The whole recall has me wondering if I could still get one installed on my truck all these years later (by the dealer for free of course)
