Smile shortening the steering wheel

Just wondering, can the steering wheel,column, be shortened on these trucks,73-87, like on the 67-72? kinda need room for the gut

68 c-10 1/2 ton swb fleetside, 79 GMC Sierra Grande 1/2 ton swb fleetside, 99 Dodge Durango 4x4(wifes ride),53 and 55 chevy trucks(dads trucks )
54 caddy 62 series 4 door(younger sons ride, aka 54caddy )
70 caddy 2 door, 89 chevy silverado stepside(older sons rides )

i have no idea if you can or not, but could you tell me how to shorten the 67-72? I would like to shorten my steering wheel as well.

The aftermarket columns from Zoops and Ididit are pretty pretty in these trucks -- a bare steel one that you paint to match puts much less of a dent in your wallet than the stainless or billet ones

I think it was by removing the parts that collapse in a wreck?

search "shortening steering column" in the 67-72 message board. It's put up by some guy named putter. good luck.
