were there any hopped up stock 327's
I was told by my buddy to see if my 327 in my 67 3/4 ton was one of the hopped up models. What is he talking about? What am I missing?

Maybe he was talking about the 327 with 300hp heads or double hump heads also known as camel hump heads.

Re: were there any hopped up stock 327's
The 327 was available in cars producing 300,325,350,365, and 375 HP
but these were never factory installed in trucks.

Re: were there any hopped up stock 327's
I believe the 365 and 375 hp could only be had as fuel injected...

Re: were there any hopped up stock 327's
right on,250 and 275 were common, and a large journal didnt appear until 68. The same block is used in a 68 350,327 and 302 all because the same bore but different cranks.
I got a 66 impala 4 door from a friend and yanked the 275 hp 4 barrel 327 out of it and built it up for my 68 Nova drag car. The engine originally had small journal forged steel crank,2 bolt main,1.94/1.50 valves in 64 CC heads, and cast pistons. I bought some .100 domed pistons, opened up the heads alot and went with undercut stem swirled/polished 2.02/1.60 valves with screw in rockers and guide plates with a single plane intake and 750 double pumper and a .558lift .312duration solid lift cam.........when it was built and started racing it I was shifting at 7800 rpms with a 4500 8" stall and 4.88 gears. Very nice strong reliable engines but in todays stroker world not as popular.
