Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

Hey guys. I'm looking for pics of the correct hub caps for my 71 Cheyenne 10.

My Spid does not list any optional wheel covers or anything, so I'm wondering what the stock hub caps should look like. I'm trying to bring it back to stock.

Thanks in advance...

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

Those would be the 69-72 dog dish hubcaps for the CheyenneSuper. The full wheelcovers were an option.I don`t have pictures.

Tim's right and they would be chrome dog dish style with the blue bowtie center included within the 71-72 Cheyenne package.

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

Which are you looking for? Your title says "Cheyenne 10 Super", but your ad says "Cheyenne". As already mentioned, the Cheyenne would have come with the dog dish cap, but ALL Supers had the full wheel covers. Don't let anyone fool you - ralleys were never available from the factory in 71 or 72!!

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

Full wheel cover listed as an option per SPID for 1972 Cheyenne Super 10, therefore not a standard hubcap in 1972. What does your SPID say, JQ-72?

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

Mine also list full wheel covers on the glovebox decal. However, I have some factory literature showing that the full covers were part of the Cheyenne Super package. I have no idea why GM would list the wheel covers on the SPID when it's part of the package. I also have some glovebox doors off Cheyenne Supers that list belt molding as an option when it is also part of the package?? I'll post pictures when I get home from work...

I don't think the people that typed those SPIDS understood what marketing and/or engineering had in mind. For that matter, marketing and engineering don't always follow each other. The SPIDS seem awefully random sometimes.

Here's some pics of my Spid and the current (probably not right) Hub Caps.

It looks like the Full Wheel Covers are the right ones. Any opinions?

those aren't right for any 67 - 72 truck. That's a 76 and up truck... or even Van hub cap. Anything with a gold bowtie isn't correct for our trucks.
I agree with the others, unless it says full cover, a baby moon is what it woulda come with.

Andy, althought i respect your opinion, i gotta reserve my opinion until i see what josh (jq72) has got. He has done more actual research into the supers than anyone i know of. If he says he can document what he believes, i gotta believe that he knows what he's saying. Lets hang on and see what he can show us.

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

My knowledge in this area of specifics is very slim. But I just looked through two 71 sales brochures. They dont even list the Super, just the new for 71 Cheyenne option. It says 15inch stainless steel wheel covers are available as an extra when you order G78 or H78 tires. They werent listed with the rest of the Cheyenne stuff....Maybe they came up with the Super after my brochures were printed?

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

Well, I may have to "eat crow" on this one. I checked some of my literature and, like Andy mentioned, it just says chrome hubcaps (which ones do they mean??). I did look at my Cheyenne Super glovebox doors and all 11 of them listed full wheel covers. I guess I'm going on personal experience too - I have owned 6 original Cheyenne Supers, seen several more, and have lots of photos in dealer literature - ALL with full wheel covers! I'm not giving up yet, I'll check through some more literature this weekend and see what I can find.

I have seen covers like these with gold instead of blue at swap meets (used not new). What would they have fit?

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

^They`d fit any US made 15" steel factory wheel. That cover would be proper for a 73-75.
I wouldn`t argue either way on the full wheelcovers as standard on Supers. It seems rare to have seen one w/o them. But,Josh makes a good point about other standard CheyenneSuper (beltline moulding) features listed on the SPID.
Actually, the SPIDS are very accurate and are the best record of original equipment. There may be variations in terminology but these are a vital ID as much as any door jam ID.

Re: Correct Hub Caps for a 71 Cheyenne 10 Super

I thought and interpreted the literature much as Jq72 had, and the pictures in all of the brochures etc. show the full covers but it only states bright wheel trim or treatment, which would lead you to believe that it could either/ or on the caps. My 71 lists the full covers as does my 72 Super 4x4 but I am puting caps on the 4x4. The other 72 Cheyenne had them listed on the Spid as well, just assumed from pictures that they were the standard.
