door wont open!!

well, I was gonna clean out the garbage in my new truck but I can't get the door open! I tried to get the inside panel off to get a better look but the screws are rusted and won't back out. any suggestions? surely this is somewhat common. tia

Re: door wont open!!

What year truck is it? In your avator it looks like a 1968. The door has a good handle on the inside and out side. The door lock isn't locked is it?
If handles are in place then a rod has broke or came loose inside the door. You will have to get the panel off some how.
I have seen people have those long lock stems and when locked they looked unlocked.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: door wont open!!

my truck is a 68. the outside handle is broken and the inside feels as though its in the locked position. the lock itself is all rusted real bad. I guess ill have to get the inner panel open.

Re: door wont open!!

my 68 went through a similar fit. I had to use a dremel to cut a slot in two of the screws on the door panels. Other too came loose. If the button has just fallen in, try putting a finger inside and pushing the plate that the button normally pushes. Course, a locked door is a lcoked door. Worse case drill the heads off the panels enough that the panel will slide over; hopefully without damaging the panel (I'm assuming metal panel . . .)

Re: door wont open!!

when you say the outside handel is broken, how, is the button gone? if so you can just push your finger or somthing straight infrom there to release the latch provided it,s not locked. it's tough to get the panel off without damage with the door closed and the seat in place
