I got some pretty decent door panels for the 73. I have a dash pad coming to that's supposed to be pretty nice. I want to paint or dye them... What products to you guy recommend?? And where to I get it??

Re: Spray dye/paint.

i used the dupli color vinyl/fabric paint and it worked great on my plastic dash pad. It wouldn't scratch off so that's good enough for me.

Now day's most of the brands are pretty good................But the most Important thing in this process is to use a cleaner. Dont be cheap and not buy the cleaner it will make the diffreance between a so so job and one you can't tell that the parts were even dyed.

Good luck.

Re: Spray dye/paint.

I've used duplicolor plastikote and krylon fusion as well as sem.

I never had much luck with duplicolor on plastic but I never used the adhesive promoter either. You definately need a wax/grease remover or prep wipes to do it first then go over them.

Any auto parts store, or even wal-mart has the stuf you need.

Re: Spray dye/paint.

SEM is the best IMO. Follow their instructions and you'll be very happy with the results.

Re: Spray dye/paint.

yea almost twice the price of duplicolor though and they have alot of the same stuff, prep wipes, you know cleaners and what not, ahesive promoters and all that.

sem offers alot of the factory colors though and duplicolor not so much.

I have used the VHT that summit racing sells and it seemed to work pretty good, but I haven't yet installed the interior.

Re: Spray dye/paint.

SEM is the name of the product

http://www.sem.ws/

You can get it from Eastwood, or some Auto parts stores near you perhaps.

Eastwood has a limited selection of colors, but Welle Auto Supply near my house has about 30 different colors to choose from.

Re: Spray dye/paint.

Another strong vote for SEM. It works excellent and they have colors that match the factory colors very closely. It's good stuff and worth the extra $.

Re: Spray dye/paint.

I used Duplicolor on my Camaro (R.I.P.) I painted my $700 ground effect kit with it which was supposed to be temporary and had it for a year and half, would have been longer but the car didnt make it. Painted my interior too. Not bad for rattle can paint....
