Steering column ID?

Does anyone know how to ID the different year steering columns? I have one that I'd like to rebulid but I'm not sure of the year. I've heard from some sources that there were some changes in the columns between 67-72. Where can I find a part number on it- is that possible? It's an auto/ tilt unit- 2"od on the housing and a 3/4 " shaft. It does have the hole for the gear indicator light which led me to believe it was correct for the 67-72 years of trucks. It doesent have any mounting provisions for the neutral saftey switch/ reverse light switch. The wiring for the turn signal switch did not run down the inside of the column, but came out from underneath the gear selector collar and down the outside of the column. ...any ideas? I can post some pics later if that helps, but I'm at work now and theyre at home.

Re: Steering column ID?

Ok... maybe some pics will help? I cant believe that nobody here- with all of the apparent knowledge- can help me with this... I know the bottom end is boogered up, but I'm gonna weld a spline end on it anyway. Cut off the shift linkage cuz it's gonna be floor shifted- also gonna smooth the upper shift collar. There's an "A" stamped on it down toward the bottom end... if that helps.
