how much is it going to cost me?

I`ve been looking for a project truck for a while now and I`ve found a 63 shortbed big window (custom cab?) but it`s missing the bed. I tried searching craigslist to get a idea of what a bed would cost. How much do step sides go for? How much do fleetsides go for? Thanks.

Re: how much is it going to cost me?

I just paid $75 for a decent long fleet bed.
there is a short step -complete truck in town for $500

You should be able to find a bed relitively cheap.....
on the step sides, the bed is the same 55-87. the fenders are the same 55-66.
that might open up your shopping options....

I paid $300 for a short fleet, then found a complete short fleet truck for $200. I have seen short fleet beds ranging from $300-$800+ probably depends a lot on geography and if there has been any work done to the bed. One I found for $800 was supposed to be in primer ready for paint.

Re: how much is it going to cost me?

Thanks guys. The guy took the bed for his 66 project but is selling both trucks so I`m trying to negotiate the bed into the deal for the 63. Without the bed and without the engine thats in it i can get the truck for $350. It looks pretty decent in the pics. I`ll keep you guys posted. Thanks.
