New to me
Just bought this:
99 GMC 2500 5.7L Vortec 4l80E transmission 53,000 miles The best part is that it burns natural gas and at .90 a gallon equilivent its going to save me alot of money!

iv been pondering a natural gas conversion for my 83, the only down side is the fuel cell.

Well I converted my 98 a while back and its been doing very well. So now this addition and my wifes 07 will be next.
Thanks guys I know its not a real good pic, but I'll post some more as soon as I go pick it up. |

What kind of MPG will it get running off of propane? Also what do you have to do to make the swap?

Uh It doesn't run off of propane hince it runs on natural gas or cng. The mileage is the same as unleaded with no loss of power unlike a by product like propane.
I purchased a conversion kit off of Ebay that was specific to the year of my truck, the 98. GM factory installed these units in all sorts of years, you just need to do a little digging to find the right one for your vehicle. |

Well drove it home yesterday from Kansas City and and filled it up in Overland Park. CNG was 1.89 per gge (gallons of gas equilavent) and it took the equilivant of 10 gallons. Drove for 150 miles before it switched to gas so I guess i got about 15 mpg on CNG. Not bad considering I was dring 80-85 mph thw whole way home.

Nice looking truck. We have a fleet of propane powered pickups and service trucks. We just bought a 3500HD on LPG with a 454 in it as well, mind you it is a '96. I am actually looking for another extend a cab or crew cab Silverado on LPG, if you see something let me know, I am always up for a road trip to pick it up.
