N.O.S. 69-72 Tow Hooks in Boxes

I`m curious what you guys think they`d go for with the used ones hung on a truck for 35+ years go for $300ish.

i dont wanna see tims jewels

i know it only takes one buyer to be worth that price but that seem high for an item that looks nearly NOS after a little bead blasting. I know "NOS is NOS" and people go crazy, but I would think maybe $500 max... to rich for my blood either way...

Yeah,I was thinking $500 to the right person.I`m sure it could be more in an auction frenzy.

They are worth what someone will pay, I know that doesn'r help but an ebay auction will answer that question best. Put it up for bid and let it go!! (I'd set the reserve at about $500 just to be sure I got what they are worth) Sometimes auctions are trivial at best and someone steals something, the reserve protects your investment.

Re: N.O.S. 69-72 Tow Hooks in Boxes

Original tow hooks are way over valued and it's only a matter of time before they are repopped then they will be probably $20-30. You can clean up originals to look super as they don't wear out or get damaged very easy so-----. I wouldn't pay big bucks to be original but that's just my opinion. A NOS am/fm radio might be worth twice the price of a used one but not a tow hook. Huck

I think Huck has a good point. If there was repo ones for a fair price and you really couldn't tell the difference; that would be a sad day for all us tow hook owners.

not really.... only for the people trying to make money! I have my original tow hooks and am always keeping an eye out for some to sell.... law of supply and demand.....

ever heard of a "good" piece of repo taiwan steel? those originals are one tough piece....

Re: N.O.S. 69-72 Tow Hooks in Boxes

I just cried thinking about the possibility. I think china and japan are more than suited for the reproduction of this sort of item, we wouldn't need to rely on taiwan for everything. If repo hooks "flooded" the market, there goes the "real demand" or the original ones.

Re: N.O.S. 69-72 Tow Hooks in Boxes

The real ones have a GM part#.N.O.S. will always be worth more than reproduction.Reproduction knocks the bottom out of used parts.

If they are NOS and you bolt them on a truck, then what are they? If you leave them in a box they are hooks in a box and what good are they?

Re: N.O.S. 69-72 Tow Hooks in Boxes

Ask that to the guys that pay crazy prices for parts in packages and keep them in packages.Ask that to a guy that pays crazy money for a car at the BJ auction that will drop 1/2 it`s value as soon as he uses it,yet drives prices up for others just wanting something old and cool to drive.
I agree,it`s only N.O.S. until it gets used.I see guys selling stuff claiming N.O.S. with barely any use.

If they are installed just for looks and won't get used, it's showboatin useless parts. So why not save some bucks and just do your own sandcast pair in aluminum

If they get used, it's abusing valuable parts

If you leave them in the box, it's an investment. Or are they? They might be at their peak now.

My friend was hauling a`69 project home on his trailer when he stopped for gas.A guy asks him if he wants some parts,"just laying around taking up space".Amongst the stored for years rust free doors ans such were these heavy GM boxes.Once home going through it all he opens them for a big surprise.Talk about the sun shinin`out the atz!!

I`d feel better about it real quick if it was me.The hooks are prolly worth more than the truck he was hauling.
