Looking For Some '81 to '87 C-30 Info

My knowledge is more on '60 to '72 trucks, but I am trying to find out some more info on '81 to '87 trucks, especially the C-30.

It looks like GM didn't put any 6-292's in the C-30 in the '81 to '87 trucks and I'm just trying to verify if that is true. Also trying to find out if the '81 to '87 292's that they put in 3/4 ton trucks were just as powerful as the old 292's back in the '60's and early 70's.

Any info would be appreciated.

GM did offer the L25 4.8L 292 in the 81-86 "30 series" pickups. The engine was rated at 115 hp@3400, torque rated at 215@1600 for most those years.

Re: Looking For Some '81 to '87 C-30 Info

Dooley,

Appreciate that info.

Do you know if they ever put them in Dual Wheel 1-Tons? So far all the info I can find online, which ain't really a whole lot, says they are only available in C-20's. Do you know of a good site to check on engine availibility in different model and type trucks concerning the '81 to '87's?

I'm also looking for GVW ratings for 1-Tons.

Re: Looking For Some '81 to '87 C-30 Info

The Chevrolet Pickup truck showroom brochures list the 292 as standard in all the "30 Series" pickups 1981-1986. The C-30 single wheel was listed at 9,000 gvw with the dually at 10,000 gvw. Same in the crew cabs. The K-30 single wheel was listed at 9,200 gvw, with the dually rated at 10,000. Yes, I've seen duallies with the 292.
