Putting a blazer body on a '71 K10 short bed frame?
Hey guys,
I think this forum is great, thanks for the advice so far... I've got a '72 K5 Blazer that was wrecked on the driver side front and the frame is mangled pretty bad, but the body (cab and bed) section of the truck is still in good shape. I want to move the Blazer body onto a shortbed truck frame. Can I do this? I'm wondering if anybody has compared the frame of a 4X4 Blazer to a regular shortbed 4X4 1/2 ton truck frame? Does everything match up? Any mods have to be made? thanks dudes... |

SWB frame and wheel base are different.
Frame is 6"s longer IIRC and I'd be surprised if the mounts were the same. Maybe surf this site: http://www.chuckschevytruckpages.com/framespecs.html Wheelbase is longer on the swb too. Bummer about the blazer being wrecked, welcome to the site though. |

I'd would first try to find a blazer frame. Luv will have one available soon and others have them available as well, the k10 frame would be my last resort.

I think you'll find another blazer frame will be considerably easier to find than a swb pickup 4x4 frame.

Not only does Luv have that rolling chassis unless he has sold it in the last few days he has the front clip for it too. Check out the 67-72 parts for sale. He might have everything you need to build yours back.

Re: Putting a blazer body on a '71 K10 short bed frame?
A shortbed 4wd frame is worth alot more and is harder to come by than a 4wd blazer frame. If you've got a shortbed 4wd frame to use you could probably sell it for enough to by a blazer frame, and then some..If you are going to use a truck frame, might as well just get a longbed 4wd frame which would be easier to get,and cut it down since either way you'd have to shorten the chassis and make body mounts.

Not to hi-jack, but I looked at a 69 GMC the other day that was a 2x4 SWB converted to a 4x4. It was on a suburban frame that was cut down a long time ago. It did look good, but does this kill the value of the truck or does anybody care?

i think it considerably reduces the value compared to if it were a real SWB K10

What about replacing the frame section with truck frame parts?

Did you find a frame because I have a 72 blazer frame. I need a short box k-10 frame... So if you didn't find a frame I would do some trading.
