I finally got the 2 1/2" stainless pipes and 50 series delta flowmasters on the 402. I have the original cast mainfolds that are 2 1/2" outlet, and the heat riser valve on the passenger side (it opens and closes by hand). The truck runs & sounds great.

My question is...The tailpipe on the driver side is noticeably hotter than the passenger side, is this normal? I did not notice this with the last system. Maybe the heat riser valve is not opening when it gets hot, I have not checked that. Thanks

I would take that riser out.

Just in case anyone searches this...My heat riser valve worked properly by hand when cold. But, when it was hot it was stuck closed. I tie wired it open, you can't really see the wire and it looks original. Both sides heat up the same now and it runs btter & smoother. Didn't really notice it running funny since everything is new and it's been about 16 months with the resto. Greg
