Help ID these sensors.

I have these sensors I pulled out of the heads below the exhaust manifolds.
They look to be tempture sensors, but the guy at NAPA couldn’t find a direct replacement. Any one know what they do? Temp gauge & warning light? (I’m not sure what my truck has) I do know it’s not a full gauge package like some do.
Thanks,
s/t

Re: Help ID these sensors.

The one with the terminal sticking out is for the idiot light dash guage. The other one looks like a plug in type for electric fan on and off. You should be able to plug the passenger side one and just install a regular probe for which ever one you need, idiot light or guage. The guage probe has a little nipple on the top to slide the terminal lug over. Any parts store should have both probes. Just tell them which year you want it for.

This truck is original...not sure why it would be in there. The guy at NAPA thought one was the Idiot light & the other for a gauge...We couldnt find a "specific" one for my truck and he showed all temp ranges too..

Re: Help ID these sensors.

I would say your heads came off of something not stock. Newer year, whatever. Maybe one was used as a plug? I know NAPA has trouble with the temp senders. Don't know why. Last one I got for the Blazer I got at Autozone, he had either one on the shelf.

Re: Help ID these sensors.

The extra temp sensor could be for the TCS (transmission controlled spark) system.

Thats a good point, these heads are matching numbers to the truck.
Can anyone say for for sure what these are? If the one isn't being used, would that make a good spot for a gauge sending unit? (or is there a better spot?).

Re: Help ID these sensors.

The stock location for the guage sending unit is on the driver's side head.
