Im not sure about the column swap but why dont you just buy an intermittent wiper switch/relay from the junkyard. It works great and plugs right in to the 2 spd. wiring plug. There is one on EBAY right now.

Does anyone happen to know if this would work on a 76'? The guy selling the switch on Ebay says 78' to 83'.

Re: changing 2 speed to delay wipers

I've got the switch and module on my 81 crew. I'll get pics of it tonight and post them on here so's you can see what the connections look like. If they are the same as your '7 model then they should work. Otherwise you'd have to do a slice-n-splice.

Re: changing 2 speed to delay wipers

ok awesome thanks...so if i wanted column mounted controls i could just wire the delay into the original wiper motor? in other words the motor has nothing to do with the delay

Yeah the delay part is handled by a part that goes between the switch and the factory plug...nothing to do with the motor.

I think the wiring is the same (but I would be incorrect, see below) but the mounting points for the switch are different. Take a look at the LMC catalog.

Sorry for the multiple posts mods.

Re: changing 2 speed to delay wipers

Actually...the 77 and down wiper motors are quite different from the 78-83 motors. I tried to put a 78-83 motor on a 77 and it wouldn't work. The connectors don't match up, and there aren't even enough wires. Same on the switch side, the 77 connector is incompatible with the 78-83 switch.

In order to perform the swap, I had to remove all the wiring from the 78 and transfer it to the fuse box of the 77. Also had to enlarge the switch hole in the dash and drill new mounting holes.
