just thought I would post a few more pics of my progress, I feel like I'm doing a better job on driver side since I was broke in on passenger side. A little time and you start figuring out better and easier ways to do things

Added today's progress can tell a little better. Am I doing this right you guys gotta tell me, it's what I think should be done.

Did you just plop that onto the old floor and weld it in or are you gonna cut out the old floor?

had already cut old floor out haven't finished cutting and put in at foot well, tacking it so I don't miss calculate.

I have a question for you.

I am about to do the same thing to my son's 66.

His outer rocker panels are in great shape, but the part that the weather stripping attaches on the bottom is rusted out.

Would this piece be called the "inner rocker panel"? Or should I just get the whole rocker panel, like you did?

It is part of the outer rocker, if the rest of the rocker is fine , I would just bend a piece of sheetmetal at a 90, trim it to fit and splice it in.
there are spot welds along the rocker right there, you can use a piece of sandpaper to find them.
the spot that yuu would be working in is right where the outer rocker is welded to the inner rocker.

Jon and David are right, both the inner and outer rocker panels were shot, I haven't put the outers on yet have to replace A pillars and cab corners first. replacement is difficult just drill spot welds remove, fit and cut to fit and weld back into place. I'll post a pic of passenger side with outer rocker set in place just to check fit.

Who did you buy you repair panels from. I'm about to do the same and I've heard that some of the panels out there aren't as good as others.

I bought my panels from LMC, I can't say that they were an exact fit, but close enough where I could get things lined up. I tried to purchase from Tabco, they were behind and it took a few months for them to answer me. I didn't have the time to wait so I got them from LMC. I have heard Tabco is makes a much better part but I can't prove it. I have several other pieces I need guess I'm gonna go for price and make it work regardless. You know I may be wrong but these patch panels aren't meant to just plop in place because most of the time the rust doesn't go that far, so some cutting and grinding should be expected when replacing.

I think tabco is USA, and just bare metal, the others that are black are tiwan.
When I worked for golden state pickup parts,we nsold both versions, and for the most part did not have complaints about either.

Kissing, There are usually (at least around DFW), several swap meets where you can get the parts at a discount, and not pay shipping. Check the local papers in the antique/classic classified area.
