alarm system for an 82, which one??
Im working on the wireing on my 82 c10 and i want to install a good alarm system while im at this stage in the build. I want it to use my power door locks also. What I mean by that is, I whant to unlock or lock my truck with the key fob. Can any one point me in the right direction or tell me who to steer clear of.
Thanks for the help, Ryan

I use Viper as well. Just pick up one of their models with door lock relays. I bought mine online from Amazon.com. No warranty because it wasn't bought and installed from a certified dealer, but I really wanted to install it myself the right way so I took my chances.

ditto with a viper with keyless entry. rate of difficulty... i'll give it a 2 since im colour blind. basically if you can install a car stereo an alarm is no issue. wires for d/l are easily to splice into above kick panels, off hand i forget what colours

I have never heard anything bad about anything from the viper alarm line up. I want to do one someday but no money for it yet.

Re: alarm system for an 82, which one??
The first thing I will be putting in the 84 when I get it is a compustar alarm http://www.compustar.com/main.htm
I had this on my SRT-10 and it is a great alarm, kind of pricey but you get what you pay for. I really love the remote that comes with it, if the alarm is sounded the remote will vibrate (as long as I'm within 1 mile of the car). They come with all the bells and whistles.
