Anyone running this with or without a Be Cool radiator. If so are you running electric fans or clutch fans? How much clearance? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I have one from a 91 sbc on my 72 350. I had to recess the Zirgo fan into the shroud I used a stock radiator w/shroud and a 16" Zirgo fan. I made what looked like a pizza pan and riveted it to the shroud then mounted the Zirgo backwards as a pusher behind the fan. So it was really a puller. I have other pics if you want to try it. But space is tight no doubt.

I don't have one (but I am planning on the possibility in the future) But it is more than $100 cheaper at parts depot .com. When comparing prices, I always Google the GM part number (in this case 12498741) and hit the big vendors without having to go through their fron door. Just a thought.

I prefer the 1996 - 2000 L29 454 serpentine brackets myself. This system utilizes a higher quality (and amperage) alternator and Delphi H4 A/C compressor apposed to the old R4 junker A/C compressor. You can find these brackets at the salvage yard (or buy the pieces individually new as I did) for a lot less then you can buy the GMPP kit although I am not certain the GEN VI brackets will fit earlier blocks.

The down side is you need to run a long neck waterpump which becomes a clearance issue on the ’67-’72 2wd trucks. A mute issue if you are planing an electric fan.

Here are a couple pics of the GEN VI in my ’78. The first picture is from when I swapped in the 454 in place of a tired 350 which I had also converted to serpentine many years earlier. The second picture is when I had the engine out for the latest fuel injection addition project.

Thanks for the info. I think it would be cheaper and more reliable to go this route. The factory big block brackets and p/s pump set up is getting too expensive.
