i am new to the forum and i am replacing my front coil springs and i was wondering if any one had some picks or info on the easiest way to do so. should i remove the little u bolts that hold the lca up? and what are the caps with the grease zerts on them and what they do? one of mine was really loose when i started lookin around under there. any pics or info would be great.

You might be able to find more pictures of actual disassembly using the Search feature.

After doing this myself recently, I'll Tell you, I used the method Longhorn Man mentions -Put frame on jackstands, support the round shaft part of the A-arm with jack, wrap a chain through the spring pocket and wrap it around itself, undo the u-bolt nuts, remove the u-bolts, and SLOWLY lower the arm down. Be cautious of your face, flying springs can apparently caus massive damage.

I personally never really unbolt the lower arm at all,and just work on the top side,by removing the upper balljoint from the spindle and just lowering the lower control arm relieving the pressure so you can remove the stock spring. Yes there are things like shocks,swaybars and more to remove or get out of the way so the lower arm can freely drop giving you the room. I have seen many people do the lower control arm route but I dont do it that way.

I hadn't thought about that from the aspect of having a swaybar. I rarely ever see them on 67-68's, but it looks like (based on board name) he has a '72
