dual exhaust?
Ok folks, I have it all. 61 Burb, I6, torsion bars & x frame. Looking for some good ideas on how to run a set of dual exhausts. I'm going to use a set of tube headers and trying to figure out how to make it all fit right. Pictures would be WONDERFUL. I'm kinda scratching my head... It's going to be cool when it's done. Dual carb intake, finned valve cover and side plate, Set of stainless headers.... I'm so excited...just a few minor things like this I have to get worked out......
Thanks.... |

Re: dual exhaust?
How bout a scratch built set of headers, where 3 cylinders feed into one exhaust pipe and the rest feed into the other? It'd be real cool if it could be pulled off.I'm not really familiar with torsion bars in those years though. How bout ducking the pipes outside the frame rails?

Re: dual exhaust?
I have a 62 and the dual exhaust runs fine inside the frame rails. Can't take pictures now though as I'm switch to a T85 OD manual transmission (so the exhaust is in the back) yard.
It's custom made, but I don't think there would be much to it if you could get it up in the air enough to work on it. BTW, don't do like the PO of mine and weld it ALL together. A couple of slip joints w/clamps would have been nice |

Re: dual exhaust?
Kevin,
Does yours have I6? Does your crossmember have 2 cutouts for duals? How did the pipe route to get it to the passengers side? I'm bringing both pipes down the Drivers side and I'm trying to figure out how to route the pipes to get it over to the passengers side and I'm not completely sure but think that I only have one cut out in my crossmember for a pipe. Then there is the whole X frame situation.... Thanks.... Last edited by soba_03; 03-19-2008 at 10:35 PM. |
