Re: where to get short block 350?

look at local engine machine shops, sometimes they can build you somthing pretty reasonable for around that much $

and look in classifies, craigslist ad's, ect lots of time people part out thier projects before finishing them

I looked at them at a dealership the one day and they were very pricey. I think I saw some at advanced autoparts that were reasonable.

Re: where to get short block 350?

i used to work at advance... i would personally stay away from mass engine rebiulding factorys, ive heard and seen bad things from them. but im sure lots of other people have great luck with them before.

i'd say try a local place and help keep some of the small speed shops going.

I've heard alot of bad things about the rebuilt engines from parts stores too, but there are some people who have had good luck with them.

Re: where to get short block 350?

B. Do you have any parts stores in your area? I mean like a Napa store. In the past a lot of them had an engine machine shop in the back. I feel much better looking the machinist in the eye when talking about working on my stuff. You can get a look at how clean or messy their operation is while you are there that may give an indication of their work quality.
I took my last one to a local independent guy. 1st thing he did was check my block for cracks in the lifter valley and sure nuff mine was cracked on both sides. CRAP! He provided me with another block, bored it 40, put in an RV cam, polished my crank and did my heads then assembled it for right at $1,ooo. I thought it was real reasonable with 1 yr warranty.
Maybe you can find one similar.

Re: where to get short block 350?

i do have an o reillys or two but none of them do any work here in branson. As far as a local shop i wouldnt trust any of the ones around here, they are all run by hillbilly imbreds(exuse me if i offend anyone or their sister/wife) i may be wrong but i have been to several around here in branson and they all look the same.
