Re: New wheels and Motor

The motor is a 454 block out of a 78 chevy pickup. I took it down and rebuilt it from the block up. The intake is a airgap version actually made by summit. the headers are also summit brand. It all seems to work well together.

Wow, thats what im doin. mines out of a 81. Im using an edelbrock performer intake with the stock quadrajet carb. You have a link of those headers.. I need some decent headers.

Just curious, i have so many vacuum lines and smog bull****, how much did you have to hook back up when you did your install? More curios about the transmission.. there seems to be a line that runs from this dashpot on the side of the th400 and goes to the intake manifold. think its a vacuum of some kind... Any ideas?

Re: New wheels and Motor

you will have a line coming from the tranmission modulator going to manifold vacuum. the only other vaccum lines i have is the vacuum advance coming from the dizzy. the only wires i have would be a alternator power wire (1 wire setup) the battery cables and the ignition switch wire goin to th starter, and of course plug wires. All the egr and what not has been removed and it runs just fine.

The drop specs are as follows:

front 3 inch drop springs and 3 inch spindles.
rear flip kit (6 inchs) 1 inch blocks and i have air shocks in the rear so i play with the stance a little. In that pic i have 60psi i believe. It also has a bolt in c-notch that i welded in also just for extra security.

the ride quality is actually very good.

Red face Re: New wheels and Motor

I havnt coated them yet. I think what im gonna do is get some high temp flat black and then some black exshaust wrap and wrap them, that way it will keep the heat in the engine bay down and they wont start looking like crap.

Re: New wheels and Motor

I wouldnt wrap your headers. Street driven vehicles & wrap dont get along. It holds the moisture in & they will be toast in a year. I like mine black, I just touch them up once in a while...
