IMMMM BAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!! haha

Whassup fellas!

Well, as you all know I cant keep away from these trucks either. I am picking up another 86 SWB tonight. Its in amazing condition in comparison to what else is available around here. I will post pics tonight if I can. Otherwise, it will be tomorrow.

On a side note, is 2/4 the lowest we can go before doing a c-notch and how bad is the ride on that in comparision to a 4/6 notched. I dont wanna do a lot of hacking on this truck. Just want it a little more down to earth on the stock rallies.

Also, if you have a 2/4 drop...please post a pic for me to see if I really want to do this mild of a drop.
Thanks!
Dave

Dave, glad to see you got another truck, it looks pretty nice. I agree about the bumper, looks to me like it should be on a lifted 4wd.

Hate to bring up old stuff but how did everything work out with the stolen truck?

Re: IMMMM BAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!! haha

that seems to be a new thing now to color match the rallies it looks nice on your truck.. some of them would look rediculous like if ya had lime green paint on there but darker colors look nice IMHO

Re: IMMMM BAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!! haha

Dave- Good to see you, I'm about to jump back into a 84 that I have found. Like you my truck was stolen (4yrs ago) and to be honest it was tough for me to decide to invest in another one...but I have found a deal to good to pass on. Attached is the truck that was stolen that had a 3/5 drop with 18's. I have no pics of the 2/4 drop that was on it before, I was not satisfied at all with the 2/4 but hey that is just me.

Re: IMMMM BAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!! haha

Damn that is nice. I like that grey color.

I think I will remove the push bars off the front of the truck, the back will get a roll pan, front prolly just a smoothed painted stocker or something down teh line. Gonna paint the side mirrors to match the paint so they hide better. Prolly do the wheels tomorrow. If I dont like it, I can just strip them and start over.

Gonna more than likely do a 2/4, maybe a 4/6 but I want it to ride decent and for that I will more than likely need to do a C section which increases my cost by a bit.

Dont know how much it will run me to lower it yet. The thing that sux...its got BRAND NEW KYB Shocks with lifetime warranties on them lol. Those will be of no use when its lowered lol.

Oh yeah..Everything worked out for the best $$ wise on teh truck that got stolen...but I miss it. NEver saw it again, I did however see my stolen wheels/tires about 2 years later on a 58 cadillac about 10 miles from my house. It still had the same nail in the right rear tire lol.

I dont know if I ever told you all but the gold truck *in my avatar* I had and sold...the DAY AFTER I sold it, it got stolen from the new owner !!! DOH! But it was recovered...a mess but he got it back. ITs still not fixed.

The KYB's aren't of "no use" if you're creative. My 74 is 5/7 using stock front shocks so a 4/6 is cake (especially the front). As for the eternal question "to notch or not to notch", mine's not & there are few roads where I'm happy about that decision.

A 4/6 is very 'do-able' w/o the rear notch but you'll be load limited most likely. The front shocks require a simple upper shock relocator that bolts to the side of the frame slightly higher than than OE. The last pic is pretty clear on where the stock shock stud-hole was vs. my relocated mount . . ....

PS . . ... If you're open to suggestion: Ditch the wider front wheels for some 6.5" van ralleys, use 88-98 GM truck trim rings, grab some sport mirrors vs. painting the 'dumbo ears', & how about the GM sport (blazer/burb) bumper vs. roll-pan?

I know a local guy ( ) that did this ralley swap recently & so far everyone likes the new look . . .....

Dave, welcome back...and NICE truck! Give me a shout before you do anything with those bumper guards.

I would drop it 4/6...knowing you, you won't be happy with a 2/4...I know I wasn't content with my 4" rear drop...and when I decided to go lower...I had to spend MORE to do so.

Hey Guys..I also want to know who/where you recommend to get a 4/6 drop from.

I guess I will do a C-notch. Not that much more work.

Re: IMMMM BAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!! haha

At one time I had 3" spindles + 3" springs in the front and flipped axle + 3" blocks in the rear without a notch. Man it looked cool but I only made one trip for obvious reasons, haha. The asphalt was too high in some intersections and I thought I was going to die at one intersection.

I think the color match rallies is a rad idea. I had mine that way at one time.

Use Belltech stuff. They have a real nice c-notch that wraps around the frame. Check Jegs, Summit Racing, or Stylin Concepts.
