dual belted alternator???

Anyone have any info on why an alternator would have been dual belted on a 72 blazer? the belt is just like the regular one, goes around the fan/waterpump, crank, and alternator, the pulley on the alternator looks factory, I thought it might have had something to do with some option like heavy duty radiator or cooling system, or high amp alternator. any info would be great. thanks

Not sure why some have dual belts... I pulled one off a six cylinder truck with no real options... It just went bad yesterday so I had to swap it out with another, but I went with a single pulley type alternator.
Might be for that california smog emission air pump or something like that.

Mine's got dual pulleys on the Alt, crank and water pump. One belt goes crank waterpump, alt p/s pump, the other crank, alt waterpump, a/c compressor ( i think that's right... I'm not at home to check now!.......
