Angry HELP! leaf pin will not align in hole of axle

I took one leaf out, the bottom one, and cut the centering pin. This was done on only the passenger side. But I drop the jack and the pin will not fall into place in the hole on the axle. I can see the head of the pin thru the hole, it rests just ahead outside of the hole. Almost seems like if I could push the wheel forward it could seat, but I have tried that but it doesn't budge. I have been working on this for 4 hours!! Someone help please! suggestions, solutions, anything!!!

Just got done doing the same thing on my dually. Had no problems and replaced a leaf on the passenger side. Did you take the drive shaft out?

Drilling: Jack the truck by the axel tube directly inside where the spring perch is. use a come along or porta power to move axel front or back. Left or right alingment is accomplished with a BFH to the spring. Jacking by the frame allows the spring to arch which moves the center bolt forward. jim

Drilling: Glad I could help. A litle note to N2 with a grin on my face, I'm near 60, the only thing I can kick is the dog, the cat, my girlfriend or the bucket. I can't even kick myself in the ass when I screw up. LOL, jim

Re: HELP! leaf pin will not align in hole of axle

Make sure the tire on the opposite side isn't holding any load... When it is drooping with no load (truck on stands), it will rotate and allow the pin to line up much easier... If not, just get mad at it and kick/push it in.

Try jacking up the truck and use a couple of big C-clamps.

that's what I do when messing with the leaf springs, makes it easy to maneuver back into place.
