friends truck (the guy that got me into these trucks)
heres some pics of my friends truck. ive known him for a while. hes the guy that got me into these trucks. hes been working on this truck for about 2-3 years and its finally almost done. 305/th350, disc brakes in front. its lowered in the front but im not sure how much. all it needs is a exhaust put on and its ready to go, its running strait headers now. pics were taken with my phone so there not the greatest.

Re: friends truck (the guy that got me into these trucks)
My best friends brother got me interested in these truck in '79-'80. He had a black '65 Chevy C10 swb stepside. My friend and his brother bought a '66 Chevy C10 lwb fleetside a year later, so the saga began. I owned a '65 in high school and a '66 in college. I have been a big fan since.
Your buddy has a nice rig. |

Re: friends truck (the guy that got me into these trucks)
i like the green rims, i wouldn't do it but it fits the style of his truck. i dont mind, hes just voicing his opinion. just dont tell david (the truck owner). he has a very touchy temper. when i was there yesterday the tool box drawer got stuck and within 10 seconds he was beating the $h17 out of his tool box. lol hes a bad ass mechanic to be only 18 though. and he does everything but wiring. body work, engine, tranny, suspension. everything. i traded my bed off my truck to him for a bunch of parts yesterday. i got a 62 1ton grill, a 61 gmc grill, a rebuilt HEI distributor, new water pump, and a set of 87-93 tbi heads that he just rebuilt for me. there not the best heads but there rebuilt so there going on my 350 for a while till i can get better. the castings on them are 14102193 if your wondering. im gonna get a set of vortecs on it sooner or later. the 62 1 ton grill is going on my truck, ive always liked those.

Re: friends truck (the guy that got me into these trucks)
Looks cool!
I think green is the anti red, and after we go through the whole color spectrum , the only acceptable color for wheels will be clear! LOL you should see how much crap the guys on the h.a.m.b. get for having red rims. Btw I have yet to see a painted rim I dont like.... some mags though. could you bolt a 64 grille on there so I could see what it looks like? just kidding, I am thinking of putting the early hood on my 65. I would love to see a full shot of the tuck... post one up when you can! Last edited by jonzcustomshop; 03-21-2008 at 05:45 AM. |

Re: friends truck (the guy that got me into these trucks)
My brother got his '62 in about 1980-81... He was my idol and I thought his truck was the greatest thing in the world... awesome paint, awesome sound, fastest truck in town! As a kid, I used always draw old vehicles, and that truck was the first one I learned how to draw... He made the truck beautiful at the Vo-Tech high school he attended, taking auto body... It was awesome... he later got married and had kids, and went into the concrete trade...it turned into his work truck. It got a little beat up, and he later wrecked it and parked it... I still loved that truck.. After years of bugging him, I finally talked him out of letting me have it... Only because I made him a killer deal on my '51. So I ended up with her in 2000 and have been more hooked ever since... we are now building a '65 short/fleet for my girl... not only that, two of her brother's are 60-66 addicts just as bad as me, if not worse...
