7000 rmp tach

Does anyone know if they make one for our trucks, I've read about the camaro tach conversion, which would work, but were would you get the tach. I've got a gauge cluster set up that had a 7k tach in it(dash lense has the marking on it, but the tach is fried, any help would be appreciated.

Re: 7000 rmp tach

I dont really like the camaro conversion, it doesn't look right; it looks out of place and cheap. I think if you have the need for a high rpm tach, just buy a new one and mount it somewhere outside of the cluster. The guage cluster in these trucks looks really classic, the newer tach just doesn't match with them. Plus, there is the markings on the lense that dont match the tach. Just my $.02.

alot of people polish the factory paint off of the lens and it looks alot better. the one in my 69 K20 didnt look theat great, but it was like a 20$ project, not $450 for a tach cluster.

i have bought running vehicles for less than the price of a factory tach!

i say go for it, it looks better than a aftermarket one and it ALOT cheaper. try junkyards or swapmeets for camaro tach's

Re: 7000 rmp tach

I guess I better start looking for a camaro tach. I'm trying to stay away from any add on's. I'm trying to keep the interior stock. If anyone has a lead on a camaro tach let me know. I start visiting some of the local yards

these trucks don't need vacuum gauges cause they don't suck!

I think the Camaro tach matches pretty good. No, it's not perfect but most people never notice.

Re: 7000 rmp tach

My tach was on the order of $30 WITH tax at Checkers. I pulled it apart, used a hole saw in the dash tin, and tossed a mid-80s quartz clock in the other blank hole for good measure.

Huh. Looking at my pictures I see I have an 8k tach. If I can help it my 383 will never see half that.
