my water pump seal went the other day...seeing how a rebuilt pump costs $17 should i put a new one in since i will have the old one out? Or should i just put a new seal in and call it a day?

Re: Water pump
wire wheel them or sand them, prime and paint. if you are going to pull the powersteering pump pulley you will need a puller/installer, if not you will never get it off without destroying it. check out your local parts store, sometimes they will let you borrow/rent one from them. but, on the other hand you should be able to paint the p/s pulley with it on the pump.

Re: Water pump
Most auto houses sell the puller for 20 dollars or so. Its a good investment for next time.

Re: Water pump
For the price, (and time involved) it is best to replace with a new, or remanufactured unit. I have been told this a few times, "If you cannot afford to do it right the first time, how can you afford to re-do it the second time?"
