TH350 to 700R4?

What all is needed to do this?

Obviously a transmission would be my first step. From there? Do I need different cables, brackets, etc?

I'm basically looking for as complete of a list as possible, or a website that shows this info.

Never done this swap, not sure what all there is to it.

Also, can I use a 700R4 out of, say, a 96 or a 97 Silvy?

Re: TH350 to 700R4?

Here are a few discussions I found on various sites...

Hotrodders1
Hotrodders2
Smokemup
and finally...
The BEST site in the world!

...and to use a mid 90s and later 700r4 (known as a 4L60E) you would need an aftermarket electronic controller that is not very cost effective. Best to stick with the mid '80s to early '90s models.

Re: TH350 to 700R4?

I did it on my 84 SWB truck (also my son's 86 SWB) and I used the same driveline yoke, changed th elength of the driveline (Because I also lowered the truck), the same crossmember (had to move it a little and redrill a couple holes), used the same column shift (had to move the linkage adjustment on the rod from the column to the first arm), and I bought a new OD indicator for my instrument panel. I ran it this way for four years and then went to a floor shift.
