Hi guys I recieved a new pair of edelbrock valve covers Edelbrock part #4449 but the oil cap hole is missing??? or what

Yeah, they're just designed that way. Pour it right in there, the oil will get to where it needs to go.

yeah, except I used the PCV valve hole as it was at the front of the engine on the driver side, rather than at the back of the engine where breather valve is...at least that is how it was on my 82.

Holy cow, now you have to take the valve covers off every time you add oil. LOL

Just pull the breather out, kind of like you would with a oil plug on the original valve covers in the seventies.

I would say you got a set of covers for an older model engine. Remember the style with the oil fill tube up front?

You can buy a breather cap that has a port that connects to a hose to go to your air cleaner from Edelbrock or many other companies, Summit racing is full of them. The other valve cover will have the PCV valve in it and this is a good thing, if you want to have a negative pressure in your crankcase. I have used valve covers of this sort for years and it works well, just pull the breather out and put a small funnel in the hole and pour oil into the valve cover. Even some of the higher priced aluminum valve covers are designed like this, no matter what engine style you purchase them for.

Just take out whatever it is you have in one of the holes and pour the oil in.

those covers are intended for an older engine set up back in the 50s the oil fill was on the intake thats y its like that. (but that just my thought on it)

The cover should have come with a removable breather in one of the covers. It fits in a grommet in the hole in the cover you pictured above. Just pull it out and push back in when your done.

I have a set of Moroso chrome covers that are the same as those; they are universal right or left. The problem is that the breather ends up in the way of some vacuum ports on a bracket mounted toward the back of the carb.
But even on an engine that is more stripped down the breather is still on the back of the engine. I don't get that??? I understand that its cheaper to have one die to stamp them out, but its a pain to have the breather in the back.

I just mounted the passenger side cover backwards.

I'll not have trouble with the breathers! I'm going to install the covers and remove the PCV valve in every oil change!!!

Been told im nuts to bring it back from the dead (still going to happen) plans-all stock with a turbo 292 inline 3 speed column shift. and thats it big block 427 and 5 speed trans and ford 9 inch theyhave no home yet thinking what to put them in and a 79 c60 trash truck um no idea i have one
