putting in a high hump floor, console spacer???

In anticipation of a A833 swap in my 74, I am swapping in a high hump floor from a donor 83. My truck has factory buckets and when I test fit the panels together my console doesnt seem to fit the new floor contour... So my question is do I need the rear console spacer (floor to bottom of console) from say a blazer or burb in order to get the factory console to fit right???? Im assuming buckets were an option on 4x4's too (help my out Jeff), But I have no idea on how the console is mounted with the high hump floor.... I have cut out the donor floor section, but I have not touched my 74 cab yet.... The first pic sows the console mounted ont he stock 74 low hump profile. The second pic shows how the console would sit it I placed it on the high hump profile. The 3rd pic shows how high I would have to lift the rear of the console in order for it to sit with the high hump floor... looks to me about the same height (appx 1.5 inches) as the spacer for a blazer or burb.... anyone have any insight into this????

Re: putting in a high hump floor, console spacer???

Mike, I have never seen first hand how a center console is mounted on a 4by pickup with a high hump tunnel. All the ones I have seen have been 2wd with a low hump.

If I were you, I would just bend up some spacer brackets and use them.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: putting in a high hump floor, console spacer???

Jeff... well if you dont know i dont know who would ...

Just an update I did find a rear consloe bracket from a mid 80's burb and it does put the console at the right height in the rear but the hole spacing is different... I too have never seen buckets in a high hump either... the dimples are stamped in the high hump for the console so Im assuming that someone at GM had thought of a console going there at some point... I am collecting pics on this and will try to throw a FAQ up for anyone else considering this conversion using buckets....

Re: putting in a high hump floor, console spacer???

I have a 79K10 with the factory buckets/console. Sorry I can't get pics right now, but there's a couple of brackets vaguely shaped like this _/\_ that the rear of the console bolts to. The truck is in storage right now, but I'll be getting it out in a few weeks to go to the interior shop for new upholstery and carpet. I'll try to grab a few pics to show you what 'm talking about.

Re: putting in a high hump floor, console spacer???

well u could get a sec console and cut the bottom out and fiber glass a new bottom to fit the mod on the floor. the reason i sugest this is cause if u were to put mounting bracket in the rear the console would sit much hiegher then it did before with my idea it would sit back were it was before and every thing would look original to a point.

Re: putting in a high hump floor, console spacer???

I've got a high hump center console. It came from a 77-78 gmc with high back buckets 3/4 ton 4x4.

Re: putting in a high hump floor, console spacer???

Snapped a couple of pics today. The front sits on a little ledge (like your first pic), and the rear brackets sit in the position of your last pic--it looks like two of the holes are already there and the dimples are there for the others. I would have taken a bare floor pic, but the seats and seatbelts have to come out to get the carpet up and I didn't have time to do that today.
