I have many addiction, she has hers...
71 Super Beetle - I drove it half way home (60 miles) and it was humming along nice. So fun to drive. Got the little bastard up to 80 too. Hitler was right, the people's car CAN do autobahn speeds. My g/f is currently in the driveway fixing her seat adjuster. GOOD TIMES. Last edited by chrislehr; 03-24-2008 at 05:37 AM. |

Some people hate vw's, but those things are just fun. A buddy of mine is restoring a '66. Have fun with it. Good looking vw by the way.

I have a very rare & limited-production gold '74 "sunbug" Super Beetle convertible - mine since new- 34 years May.
Lotsa fun. Not many things you can buy, use & enjoy for years, & have it worth about 3 times new price with nothing but routine upkeep. |

Re: I have mny addiction, she has hers...
wow, that little bug looks really solid. looks like it's been restored a bit? doesn't look tweaked with at all! nice find!!!!
had a 72 standard myself. that are bulletproof! went to college in '92 with it and drove it 60 miles round trip, 5 days a week, not even a hiccup. then someone plowed into me at a stoplight at 55 mph. broke my seat mounts, threw my head through the rear window, and we slid 20 yards into a car in front of me. once I gained a sense of orientation, I opened the door and got out. the engine was pushed a foot forward into the rear seat deck/battery tray. the transaxles were still attached, but the exhaust manifolds were accordian-ed, the bumper was dragging the ground. but I was wearing my seat belt and IT WORKED!! the Missouri State trooper asked if I needed a tow. I said, well, let me push it off the road first. put the key in her and she cranked right up! drove her 20 miles home at normal highway speeds, but a little louder. what a great little car. easy to work on, eye appealing, and UNSTOPPABLE! make sure your g/f treats that little bug good and it will treat her good right back.

Re: I have many addiction, she has hers...
I had a bug the same color as the first. It had the crank open sunroof. I loved that color because it never got dirty. Just wipe off the bumpers and hubcaps an it was good to go. FUN!!
