How do you adjust the doors on a 85????
I know you use the hinges to make the adjustments but how the heck do you get to the bolts inside the front fenders? My truck has about 80,000 miles on it. The Strikers are hitting on the pins in fact they have worn the top side of the big end of the striker pin off by about a 1/16 of an inch.

Re: How do you adjust the doors on a 85????
use a floor jack with the door open sounds like maybe you have a bad hinge bushing tho

with the door open grab the bottom and pull up and see how much play it has if any you should start with replacing the pins and bushings. The hinges should not have moved any and if they have yes it is quite fun to get the bolts loose to adjust them

Re: How do you adjust the doors on a 85????
you open the door fully place a floor jack under the lip and jack it up then loosen your bolts on the door and raise it by guesstimating the height you need and do trial and error otherwise you can remove the inner wheel well and go in that way which is way more work than its worth

Re: How do you adjust the doors on a 85????
I just pop the door open, put a floor jack under the open door with a 2X6 on the jack head, lift the truck by the door and jump up and down on the running boards. Worked a treat on mine for both doors and they haven't sagged back down in the 5 years I've owned it. This was the procedure recommended to me by the Chevrolet dealership. It's exactly what they were going to do to it if I had them fix it.
