Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

I'm getting ready to design my tube frame for my 67, adding c4 front suspension and a 4 link. need help with a coulple of measurements so that i can set my frame ride heigth.

How far is the bottom of your frame off the ground and what size tire do you have?

Also you roll pan guys. Whats the measurement from the bottom of the frame rail to the top edge and the lower edge of the roll pan?

Thanks everyone in advance,
Bryan

Re: Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

My truck has a 3.5"/6" drop. This is some info I PMed to another member about the height. It may or may not help you.

I measured from the center of the wheel to the lip of the fender. I thought this would alleviate any tire size/height issues between your vehicle and mine. At ride height I have 14.5". I jacked up the truck to the point that the tires were moving (inward?) and seemed about to come off the ground and got 18.5". A couple more strokes of the jack got the tire off the ground and the tape read 19.25". All these are approximate. I was using a tape and eyeballin it all as best I could. It's possible things could be a smidge one way or the other. I also made some ride height measurements from the truck to the ground. The center of the front bumper 8.25". The center of the first frame xmember from the front 9". The center of the engine/suspension x member 5.25". Again no gauges were used, just a tape and my eyes.

Re: Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

Thanks a lot for the info see ten. how close to level is the lower staight part of the frame?

My truck is in pieces right now so i cant really measure by the center of the wheel and the fender. and im designing the frame on SDS/2 so i just need from the bottom of the frame to the ground with the tire size.

Thanks a lot for all the help..

Re: Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

I want it to end up being just a bit lower that a truck with a 4/6 drop, so this will give me a good place to start.
Thanks, guys

Hmmm,

I'm about this level. Sorry, it's hard to say without knowing if I've got it parked somewhere level.

Re: Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

see ten, That is just about how i want my truck to sit.
What size tires are you running?
Can you measure how far your frame is off the ground on concrete, could be measured from even right after the front wheel where the frame staightens out.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

To answer the roll pan question; The top of the pan is flush with the top of the frame and the bottom is 2" bellow the bottom of the frame. The total thickness of the back of my pan is 5" (making the frame rails aprox. 3"). Hope this is what you were asking for.

Re: Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

Here is what I got. My truck is a 4/6 drop kit from ECE (via dropped spindles and springs). My tires are 265/50/15s front and rear.

Starting from the front and working back, bottom of the frame horn (very front) to ground is 7-1/4 inches. Bottom of the frame (under front cab mount) to ground is 5-3/4 inches. Bottome of the frame (under rear cab mount) to ground is 7 inches. Bottom of the frame (end of frame under tailgate) to ground is 15 inches.

Also, ground to bottom middle of front wheelwell is 26 inches, rear wheelwell is 27 inches.

Re: Calling all 4/6 drop trucks

Hey John Fabris, Do you happen to know what your tire diameter is? I thought it would be close to 29, but with the wheelwell dimension being 26 im not sure.
Thanks
