''gold digger''????

Does anyone have pics of a show truck called'' gold digger''?
It had a wild custom front end and gold inlaid into the sides?
Was a chop top stepside from the 80's show circut?
Not totaly sure on the gold digger name either?

Re: ''gold digger''????

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've been told the Gold Digger lost the ISCA Truck of the Year award back in the 80's by fault of not being a running, driving vehicle. And it's obvious that it remained that way at least up until '07 when it was sold on ebay as the "Nasty Habits" truck. It still didn't have a gas pedal and it appeared to still have the same dressed and painted plastic mock-up engine block in it that it had when it was originally built as the Gold Digger. Yes, Gold Digger was a nice truck and was very well done, however, it's the classic stereotyped show vehicle.

Re: ''gold digger''????

Thats odd! I'm not saying its not true, but I do question that info. The first time I saw this truck, I drooled on it for hours. I noted that it had a little colored sticker on the headlight and wondered what it was. I found out that it was a "spot check" sticker that was a confirmation that it had passed the ISCA spot check.

For those that don't know, all ISCA vehicles must run, move under their own power, and stop. At least once a season they must pass a random "spot check" to qualify for the Nationals.

Re: ''gold digger''????

Exactly. It's been that way some 50 years now to my knowledge. I believe it was dq'd at the ISCA Phoenix show the year it ran ISCA's circuit when it was initially finished. Which I have a few pictures of.it from that show. And honestly, looking at it then and comparing things to how it was in the pics from '07 that I have, the only changes were the paint and color scheme and interior. Everything else was basically the same as it was when originally built as the "Gold Digger". The only thing that puzzles me, is how a show vehicle could remain as a non-operational set up for that many years, especially after being redone at least once within that time period.

Re: ''gold digger''????

It defeats the purpose of a vehicle in a my opinion. You might as well buy a Revell model kit from Walmart for $12.95, build it to the best of your ability and enter it in model shows. It would be a lot cheaper and it would serve the same amount of usefulness as a high dollar show truck with a plastic mock-up block in it. Like I said, it is a nice, well detailed build, but it's kind of retarded to keep it that way for 20+ years.
